The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution is a water-based serum with 2% salicylic acid, an oil-soluble beta hydroxy acid (BHA). It exfoliates the skin’s surface and works inside pores to help reduce congestion, blackheads and the visible signs of acne while improving uneven texture.
The updated formula uses pure powdered salicylic acid in a lightweight texture designed for acne-prone and oily skin. Introduce it once daily in the evening after cleansing and before moisturiser. Sensitive skin may not tolerate it, so patch testing and daytime sunscreen are essential.
Salicylic Acid 2%: An oil-soluble beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that exfoliates dead surface cells and can move through oil inside pores to help clear congestion.
Saccharide Isomerate: A moisture-binding ingredient that supports skin comfort within the water-based formula.
The US acne-treatment label permits application one to three times daily after tolerance is established. For a skincare routine, The Ordinary recommends once daily in the evening. Always follow the directions on your own packaging or those of a healthcare professional.
Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (2%).

For external use only. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid the eye contour and eye contact; rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs. Patch test on a small area once daily for three days before broader use. Stop use and seek immediate medical advice if severe irritation, hives, swelling, blistering or difficulty breathing occurs.
Do not use in the same routine with Copper Peptides, Direct Acids, Direct Vitamin C, EUK 134, 100% Niacinamide Powder, Peptides, Retinoids, Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner, GF 15% Solution or Multi-Active Delivery Essence. Using another topical acne medication at the same time can increase dryness and irritation; if irritation occurs, use only one topical acne treatment at a time. Sensitive skin may not tolerate this formula. Consult a healthcare professional if pregnant, breastfeeding, under medical care or unsure whether it suits you.
Best suited to oily and acne-prone skin with blackheads, clogged pores or uneven texture. The Ordinary also identifies it as suitable for teenagers experiencing mild to moderate acne.
Sensitive or easily irritated skin may not tolerate it. The current formula is alcohol-free, oil-free, silicone-free and gluten-free, and is vegan and cruelty-free.

Because it is oil-soluble, salicylic acid exfoliates the skin’s surface and works through oil inside pores, helping to clear congestion and reduce blackheads and visible blemishes.
Start once daily in the evening after cleansing and before moisturiser. If dryness or peeling occurs, reduce use to every other day.
No. Do not use it in the same routine with retinoids, direct acids or the other conflicting actives listed under Warnings.
It may not be. Patch test first, introduce it gradually and stop if persistent or severe irritation develops.
Yes. Exfoliating acids can increase sensitivity to sunlight, so apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning.
